Children’s Writers & Illustrators of British Columbia Society
CWILL BC is dedicated to supporting writers and illustrators of children’s literature in British Columbia. Members often engage in paid public speaking engagements in schools and libraries and benefit from cross-promotion on CWILL’s website and social media channels. The North Shore Writers Association
The North Shore Writers Association is based in North and West Vancouver. In addition to hosting the North Shore Writers Festival, they also hold events like their monthly open mic nights and bi-weekly silent group writes all throughout the year. Joining involves paid membership and comes with perks such as free entry to the association’s annual writing contest, in which the winners are published in their digital anthology, Rivulets.

Delta Literary Arts Society
The Delta Writers Society is based in Delta, BC. In addition to hosting the annual Composed Festival of Writing & Film, they also hold events throughout the year, including weekly writers circles, monthly writing workshops, and open mic nights. Royal City Literary Arts Society
The Royal City Literary Arts Society is based in New Westminster, BC. They host several writing workshops and events throughout the year, including the popular Poetry in the Park summer reading series and open mic. They also run the annual Write On! writing contest and the Fred Cogswell Award for Excellence in Poetry. Shut Up & Write!® Vancouver
Shut Up & Write!® Vancouver is a global community of writing groups with a chapter here in Vancouver. Shut Up & Write events are completely free and involve brief time to socialize, with the bulk of the event consisting of focused silent writing time. Shut Up & Write meets twice a week. On Saturdays, meetings take place at 10 AM at the Central Branch of the Vancouver Public Library. On Tuesdays, meetings take place at 6 PM at the Historic Joy Kogawa House.

Tipsy Writing
Tipsy Writing is a casual weekly meetup that takes place at The Morrissey every Wednesday at 6 PM. Events are free to attend and are two hours long, with the first hour consisting of focused silent writing time and the second hour being set aside for socialization and chit chat with fellow writers.

Vancouver Genre Writers
Vancouver Genre Writers is a writing group centred on writers of genre fiction, mainly Fantasy and Science Fiction. In addition to hosting bi-monthly in-person writing meet-ups, they also have a Discord where writers can connect with one another. Vancouver Genre Writers has also published Vanthology, a short fiction collection made up of stories by local writers.

Fraser Valley & Sea-to-Sky
Abby Writers Grind
The Abby Writers Grind is a free group that meets up twice a week to write. The first 30 minutes of their events involve catching up and chatting with fellow writers, with the rest of the session dedicated to 25-minute writing sprints with short breaks in between. Their Sunday meetup occurs at The Rex at 10:15 AM, and their Saturday meetup happens at the Clearbrook Library at 1:30 PM. Attendees are encouraged to RSVP as space is limited.

Sunshine Coast Writers and Editors Society
The Sunshine Coast Writers and Editors Society hosts the annual Art & Words festival in Gibsons, BC. In addition to publishing the literary quarterly Not An Island, they also publish book reviews and interviews with local writers. They also host the annual Book Awards for BC Authors Contest with special awards for indigenous, diverse, and Sunshine Coast writers. The Comox Valley Writers Society is a member of the Comox Valley Community Arts Council. They are dedicated to supporting the local literary arts.
